Voice Lessons at FVS

Sing for pleasure.

Sing with confidence.

Sing for success.

What stands between you and reaching your full potential as a singer?

Do you struggle with pitch matching? Vocal fatigue or tension? Is a little voice in your head holding you back? At FVS, students will learn the many ways you can love your voice through healthy vocal technique and by cultivating the mind-body connection behind the art and science of singing.

My Method

Singing lessons are a powerful tool for discovering one’s abilities and strengths, and for developing confidence on stage and off.  In working with singers for fifteen years, I have cultivated a teaching style that addresses both the mental and physical aspects required to produce confident singers with strong, healthy vocal technique. Whether your goal is to compete or audition at a higher level, perform at an open mic or fulfill a lifelong ambition of learning to sing, I am committed to helping you love your voice and enhance your individual sound.

Lessons for every singer.

Your voice and your goals are what matter. FVS lesson packages are thoughtfully curated to provide an effective, valuable service to singers of all backgrounds. Voice lessons range from 45 - 60 minutes. 90 minute lessons are voice & piano combined.

This process is a team effort. Each singer’s individual progress will be greatly influenced by their daily practice outside the studio.

FAQs

  • Students typically begin lessons around age 9, though I will occasionally accept younger students on a case by case basis. For instance, if your child is already involved in some level of performance with a choral group or local children’s theater, they may be ready to try private singing lessons at FVS.

Singing ensembles, piano or other instrumental lessons are a great place to help a young singer develop their ear and practice discipline prior to one on one vocal lessons.

  • Yes! Healthy voice technique involves a series of muscles that can be conditioned with time, patience and practice.

Fun fact: Singing stimulates multiple areas of the brain and has an abundance of scientifically proven benefits. It can improve your mood, mental health, memory, and reduce stress. Yay for endorphins!

  • As singing activities are considered highly susceptible to spreading illness, we will proceed with a hybrid lesson option as long as it is safe to do so. Fully vaccinated students will have the option to take lessons in-person beginning Fall 2022.

Online lessons have been incredibly beneficial, allowing students to check in with me on-the-go or from the comfort of their own home. They are also economically and environmentally friendly. You’re welcome, Mother Nature.

Students are invited to develop a hybrid (both in-studio and online) or exclusively virtual lesson schedule that is best suited to their needs.

The health and well-being of my students is top priority. We reserve the right to resume virtual lessons at any time (i.e. in the event of illness, potential close contact, or a significant rise in Covid-19 cases).

  • Absolutely! Warming up before your lesson is highly encouraged. Intermediate students are expected to arrive fully warmed up to their lesson.

  • This will vary depending on the singer’s age, level and activities schedule. How much time can you dedicate to mindful, focused practice each week?

If you are a beginner, spending 15-20 minutes a day developing technique is far more effective than longer practice sessions one or two days a week. Your voice teacher can help you organize a reasonable practice routine.
